Funded Project Positions

PhD Positions available as of July 2024

We are currently looking for PhD students to join our group in the following areas:

1. Development of a docking station of an AUV: In this work the student will design and fabricate a docking station for an AUV and demonstrate it in the field. The work will include the mechanical, electrical and software integration of sensors with the dock and development of a homing and docking algorithm. 

2. Generative and Adversarial Reinforcement Learning for developing a pursuit-evasion game strategies:  In this work the student will design pursuit-evasion strategies for autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) and test them in the field. The simulation framework will involve working with python, 3JS and Robot Operting System (ROS 2). The implementation in field will involve the development of a communication module between the vehicles. 

3. Design and Development of a long endurance AUV: In this work the student will be part of a team that designs and fabricates a long endurance AUV in our lab and be involved in the design of the electrical and electronic systems for the AUV. The work will involve the integration of different sensors with the AUV and the development of control, navigation and guidance algorithms for mission execution and fault tolerance. A background or previous experience in electrical or electronics engeering will be preferable for this position.
